Tooth whitening

First , you should speak with your dentist . He will tell you exactly whether whitening procedures are effective for you . Whiteners don’t correct always all types of discoloration . Yellow-ish hued teeth may probably bleach well , brown-ish-colored teeth may bleach less well and gray-ish hued teeth may not bleach well at all . Anyway , bleaching may not enhance your smile if you had tooth colored fillings placed for your front teeth . The whitener won’t effect the color of these materials , and may stand out in your newly whitened smile . You should probably check more options , like porcelain veneers or dental bonding .

If you choose for bleaching , the dentils will apply either a protective gel or something like a rubber shield to protect the oral tissues . This procedure , can be done in the dentist’s office , and it’s called chairside bleaching , which requires more than one office visit .

Tooth care

Remove the plague

To prevent cavities , you must remove plague ( a transparent layer of bacteria that surrounds the teeth ) . The best way is to brush your teeth twice a day and flossing once a day . Brushing stimulates the gums , by helping and keeping them healthy and prevent gum disease . Fluoride is the most common active ingredient in toothpaste that prevents cavities . You should always be sure that your toothpaste contains fluoride .

Facts on flossing

Brushing is very important but it won’t remove 100% the plague and particles of food between your teeth . You’ll need to floss these spaces at least once a day . Be careful with any floss and avoid injuring gums .

Tooth Whitening Products

Some toothpastes claim to whiten your teeth , it’s not bad at all as long as it contains fluoride and ingredients that fight plague and tartar . Probably there won’t be noticeable changes of your teeth’s color .

Nutrition Connection

When you eat sugary foods or drinks sodas frequently , the enamel that is protecting your teeth is exposed to acids . Food like candies , cough drops and breath mints containing sugar are especially harmful because they dissolve slowly in your mouth.
